Community Rice Milling Support
to the Rural Poor in Lao PDR

Within the Community Seed Multiplication Project, a small grant has been provided to the Lao Women’s Union to assist the rural poor communities in Savannakhet province of Lao PDR on rice milling for family consumption. Apart from reducing daily workload of the rural women, this activity also helps to improve the capability of the community on how to work together. The villagers who bring the rice seed for milling have to pay the agreed amount of money. This collected money will be used to buy new machine for another village.

The project is implemented by the provincial office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
