To
learn more about issues that are central to the development of the
Foundation’s “Transcending Boundaries” strategy,
a grant was administered to the Inter Press Service (IPS), a non-profit
international cooperative of professional journalists in the field
of communication, to carry out an experimental project, which involves
journalists and photo reporters in investigating cross-border issues
in the Greater Mekong region. Twelve journalists/photo reporters
of Mekong countries were selected to produce in-depth features and
photo essays on different cross-border issues relevant to the region,
which will serve as an information source for the general public
regarding the social challenges presented by the many uncertainties
associated with the phenomenon of globalization and related regional
changes. To present a more in-depth coverage of each issue in the
final publication, IPS will also be producing special stories consisting
of commentaries by experts that will complement the ones done by
the twelve-selected journalists/photo reporters to provide a wider
view of the issues relevant to the sub-region. Click on the link
