Global
Village
The XV International AIDS Conference in Bangkok
12 - 15 July 2004
Through
the Global Village, the XV International AIDS Conference in Bangkok
aimed to provide open space for communities to bring their experiences,
skills and knowledge to share with others. Dedicated to finding
common ground, celebrating diversity and sharing experiences, the
Global Village was alive with the buzz of learning. The networking
didn’t stop: there were chat rooms, forums for speaking freely;
informal encounters with plenary speakers from the main conference
program; healing and health demonstrations, exhibitions, music,
dance and performances, and much more … the atmosphere was
one of creativity and compassion; solidarity and commitment –
a celebration of life.
The Global Village in Bangkok attracted around 25,000 visitors during
the week of the conference, with a large proportion of these school
students, thanks to effective outreach and media work prior to the
conference.
