Media Fellowships on Offer
Articles to focus on Mekong sub-region

Inter Press Service (IPS) Asia-Pacific is inviting journalists and photojournalists in the region to apply for media fellowships focusing on the theme of a vision for the Mekong subregion at a time of globalisation.

The programme, which is to run from January to December 2002, is open to all nationals from Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and China's Yunnan province.

Seventeen fellowships will be awarded: 12 for writers and five for photographers.

The fellowship project is being undertaken with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation (Southeast Asia) Bangkok.

Writers should produce, in their own native language, in-depth; comprehensive features on cross-border issues relevant to the Mekong subregion. Photographers should produce photo essays.

Cross-border issues are defined as those that affect at least two countries in the Mekong region.

The deadline for submission of applications is December 31 of this year.
